• The Challenge

  So ... I've  barely touched The Last since school started.  I've been pretty much not motivated at all to write it.  It happens sometimes, but I've never had a block this bad.

  What makes matters worse is that a new idea has spawned, and it won't leave me alone. I talked some to my mom (since she's my editor too) about possibly letting go of The Last and moving on to this new idea, but she thinks that's a bad idea.  The more I think about it, the more I tend to agree.

  So instead, we've upped the ante!  I'm hoping to work pretty rigorously on The Last during my Christmas break and maybe even crank out half of the manuscript or so.  If I can continue to work on it through next semester and still plan to finish it by the end of the summer or the beginning of the fall, I may even just have time to work on this other book and finish it by the time I graduate.  How cool would that be?

  This challenge makes me excited to work on it again.  Hopefully more ideas will come more easily and the plan will be easier to implement.  Wish me luck!  I will keep you posted--and since there's no schoolwork to bog me down, I mean it this time!  ;D
